from 03:00 PM to 05:00 PM
Dr. Goffman is an urban sociologist who grew up in Philadelphia. Her dissertation was an ethnographic account of the heavily policed ghetto that emerged as the US continues a War on Drugs and imprisons poor black men on a massive scale, and received the 2011 Best Dissertation Award from the American Sociological Association. With Mitchell Duneier, she recently completed a history and sociology of the ghetto from early modern Europe to the present.
