Financial Support

The Department of Sociology attempts to help each student obtain a full-year financial support package with the expectation for the student to maintain good academic standing (3.0 GPA minimum and satisfactory progress toward the degree).

Leon Mayhew Prize
The Leon Mayhew Prize for the Best Qualifying Paper in Sociology recognizes student scholarly achievement and celebrates Mayhew's contributions to sociology and to the UC Davis graduate program.
External Funding
The Department of Sociology encourages and helps students prepare grant applications to public and private organizations that award funds for doctoral research, and recommends other sources of external funding.
