Alpha Kappa Delta International Sociology Honor Society (AKD)

The UC Davis Sociology Department hosts the Upsilon Chapter of Alpha Kappa Delta, the International Sociology Honor Society.

Eligibility

  • Must be officially declared Sociology major
  • have a cumulative UC GPA of 3.0 and rank in the top 35% of your class (about 3.2 or 3.3)
  • Maintain a 3.0 GPA in Sociology courses taken here at UCD
  • have completed at least four regular letter graded sociology courses
  • be of junior, senior, or graduate standing
  • completed 46A or 46B or 103 or 106*
  • Organizational Studies and Social Services Emphasis students must have completed Sociology 100 (Classical & Modern Sources of Sociological Theory) before applying.*

    *Exceptions on these requirements will be considered on a case-by-case basis.  Please see Janet Gutierrez if you have any questions.

How to Apply for Membership

  1. Fill out the form entitled “Application for Membership in AKD.”
  2. Attach a $40 check payable to "UC Regents"
  3. Give both items to Janet Gutierrez, Undergraduate Program Coordinator.

 

Application forms are available on various bulletin boards around the department and from the advising office.
