Declaring a Major in Sociology or Sociology-Organizational Studies

Policy for Declaring Major

For students to declare a major in Sociology or Sociology-Organizational Studies, one SOC course, either lower or upper division, with a grade of “C” or better is required. You must also be in good academic standing within your college. If you have fulfilled this requirement, you may initiate a Change of Major petition through the Forms & Petitions tab on the myucdavis OASIS site. It is strongly recommended that you make an appointment with one of the department undergraduate advisers to discuss your change of major in addition to submitting the online form.

Policy for Declaring a Double Major

For students to declare a double major in Sociology or Sociology-Organizational Studies with another major, a substantial part of the preparatory subject matter in each major must be completed and both majors must be completed within the college unit cap of 225 units. You must also be in good academic standing within your college. If you have satisfied these requirements, you may initiate your multiple major petition through the Forms & Petitions tab on the myucdavis OASIS site. It is strongly recommended that you make an appointment with one of the department undergraduate advisers to discuss your double major in addition to submitting the online form.
