Lofland Undergraduate Research Award:
The John and Lyn Lofland Undergraduate Research Award honors excellence in undergraduate research in Sociology. This year's winner was Jennifer Herrera for her honors thesis project “Hey Sexy!” A Compliment or Harassment?: Interpretations of and Experiences with Street Harassment. Jennifer received a $250 award and was recognized this past week at the Senior Celebration. Melissa Dittrich also received a $100 honorable mention award for her thesis!
This campus award is reserved for students graduating from Summer 2015-Spring 2016 academic year who not only have maintained a 3.60 major GPA, but have made substantial contributions to the department. The following students will receive recognition for this honor on the official spring commencement program.

Citation for Outstanding Performance:
This campus award is reserved for students of true distinction in an academic department who have maintained a 3.60 major GPA or higher and have shown superior academic promise and achievement. Undergraduate Outstanding Senior Award:
This award was given to one student in each major based on faculty nominations for students who demonstrated excellent academic achievement, outstanding contribution to the academic environment through active involvement with faculty and fellow students, and demonstrated leadership. Nancy Au (Organizational Studies) and David Castallano-Ladd (Sociology) were honored this past month at the Office of Undergraduate Education Award Ceremony.
