Mindy Romero's Research Receives James Irvine Foundation Grant

What is the Impact of California’s vote-by-mail voters on the state's electorate?

James Irvine Foundation just announced its support of The California Civic Engagement Project, founded by Mindy Romero and housed at the UC Davis Center for Regional Change, to conduct research providing a comprehensive analysis of the make-up of California’s vote-by-mail voters. Considering that half of California’s statewide ballots are cast by mail, understanding who these voters are and why their vote-by-mail ballots are can sometimes be invalidated (e.g., signature verification issues, postal issues) can provide critical insight into the current and future impact of this growing choice of voters on the make-up of the state’s electorate.
