Sociology Majors

The Department of Sociology offers two majors: sociology and sociology-organizational studies, both of which lead to bachelor of arts (A.B., from the Latin "atrium baccalaureus") degrees.

Sociology Minor

The minor in sociology offers a broad range of classes for students interested in social services, legal professions, or the study of class, race and gender.

Staff and peer advisors are available weekdays to assist students individually with academic planning, petition review, course selection, career pathway development and other matters related to the major.

Academic Honors

Students majoring in sociology can distinguish themselves and establish momentum toward grad school by qualifying for and participating in the department's academic honors program.


Numerous internship, award, research and curriculum enhancement opportunities are available for undergraduate students in the UC Davis Department of Sociology.
